Paplitz Camp 2025 Paplitz - August 2nd to 16th
My name is Gabriela, I am 24 years old, I have a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and I participated in the Paplitz – Berlin camp in August 2025. It was my first experience outside the country, on another continent, my first airplane trip and the first time having to speak English to communicate, in short, many new things happening at once.
We started our trip to Berlin leaving from Porto Alegre in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, we went to São Paulo, and then to Lisbon – Portugal, to finally catch the flight to Berlin, a 40-hour trip. We had some difficulties taking the train from Berlin airport to Paplitz (our firsttime traveling by train), but the teamers at the camp helped us. We arrived in Paplitz at night, where Monica was waiting for us.
Our days at the camp were incredible, we made friends with everyone, and despite the language differences, we managed to communicate very well. The workdays were very enjoyable; the Paplitz community was always helping us and bringing us snacks and cold water. We worked in the churchyard, the cemetery, the park, and the museum, and we had a lot of fun.
In our free time, we did activities at the camp itself, such as question games, creativity activities, jewelry making, cake competitions, and even outdoor games with water activities. We rode our bikes a lot and got to know the whole community and neighboring town. We played volleyball and had a party for us, organized by the Paplitz community.
We went to Leipzig for one day and to Berlin for two days, simply sensational places. It was incredible to personally see these places that we only saw in history books and photos on the internet.
The teamers (Julia, Aina, and Maté) were wonderful, very helpful, and always assisted us with everything; truly sensational people. I would very much like to have the opportunity to meet them again.
